If this had just a little asterism (little rutile inclusions), this could have been a star sapphire. Such a fun color rarely seen! It is a misty, smokey lavender-gray. The setting is a smooth, 10k yellow gold bezel and shank. I love this piece. Sapphire – 9.5 x 8 mm – 6.56 carats by calibration Sapphires are a denser mineral and are cut deeper than diamond so it will “face up” smaller than a diamond of the same length and width. Measurement of face – 11.6 x 10 mm. Band – 4 mm at the shoulders tapering to 1.66 mm behind the shank. Height – 10 mm. Estimated Dating – 1940’s. Condition – Very good commensurate with age. The stone is not smooth-polished. It also has natural inclusions visible with the naked eye in photo. On significant blemishes or flaws are listed. Photos are enlarged for detail.
