This is a vintage and fairly large/chunky 9ct gold black opal doublet? Signet ring in a size Y, US 12. The band is a good width, measuring approximately 1.9cm at the top of the shoulders, then tapering down to around 4mm at the back of the band. The head of the ring/opal is also a good size, measuring around 1.9 x 1.3cm. The opal has a fabulous play of colours with lots of red, and is covered with a layer of quartz for protection. I cannot say if it is a doublet or triplet as the back of the stone is not visible. The quartz has a small chip to it which can be seen in some of the pictures, and there is some slight clouding in places, however, you do have to look very closely to notice either, as they are not immediately obvious to the naked eye (It is much more obvious in the photos than it is in the flesh, as they are zoomed in and a flash was used on most of them). It is stamped with’9ct’ as pictured and is in good overall condition apart from the aforementioned. It is a respectable weight at around 7.8g. Box for display only but alternative supplied.
