It has the original screw-down Twinlock winding crown with the Rolex crown emblem, and the screw-down case back is so lid, inside of which is engraved ” MONTRES ROLEX SA GENEVA SWITZERLAND PATENTED STAINLESS STEEL, ” and the reference number 6610. The 34.5mm diameter solid three-body case, integral lugs, bracelet, and angled bezel are polished/brushed. It has the original patinated black/gilt dial with early radium lume skeletonized hands, a gilt minute/seconds perimeter chapter ring, and a center sweep lollipop seconds hand. There are radium luminescent Arabic numeral hour markers at 3, 6, and 9, baton hour indices, and a triangle at the 12 o’clock position. It’s water resistant and the 12.5mm thick case, dial, and movement are all signed. This Rolex Explorer I Gilt “Chapter Ring” Dial 6610 has a mechanical automatic self-winding Rolex caliber 1030 movement. It’s rhodium-plated, and it’s constructed with 25 jewels, a shock absorber device, and a straight-line lever escapement. It includes a monometallic balance that’s adjusted to temperatures and 5 positions, a self-compensating blued steel Breguet balance spring, and an index regulator. This rare Rolex Explorer I Gilt “Chapter Ring” Dial 6610 was the successor of the earliest 6298 Rolex – the original Mt. Everest Explorer watch that was produced in very small numbers.
