VINTAGE CIRCA 1970s ERA, SIGNED “HH”, HELM & HAHN CO. PITTSBURGH, PA, USA, 10K WHITE GOLD, 1.0 CT CABOCHON, LINDE BRAND, 6 POINT RAY, SYNTHETIC BLUE STAR SAPPHIRE GEMSTONE, MID CENTURY MODERN – MCM DESIGNED, LARGE MEN’S STATEMENT / SIGNET BAND RING NO PERSONAL MONOGRAMS OR ENGRAVINGS, IN A US SIZE 10.75 or 10-3/4, GEMSTONE MEASURES 6mm x 8mm, TOP OF SETTING MEASURES 1/2″ x 5/8″, SHANK IS 5/16 WIDE, TOTAL WEIGHT OF 7.7 GRAMS. Shows typical light wear from use and storage, including minor surface marks and scratches. It has been gently hand polished and ultrasonic cleaned in a mild dish soap, and it has nice shine and is very clean. It is straight and round, not bent out of shape, stone has nice deep color with no visible damage, has no personal monograms or engravings, with no major issues at all. The setting is nicely done in an asymmetrical, offset style featuring a crosshatch motif on the sides that is indicative of Mid Century Modern design. It is hallmarked on the inside 10K and conjoined letters HH, the mark for historic and listed USA fine jeweler, Helm & Hahn Co. They are well known for their various gemstone ring designs. The gemstone is also hallmarked on the back with a script letter L, mark for Linde, a line of synthetic sapphire gemstones made by Union Carbide. We did perform a stone and acid test and it confirms 10K gold and tested the stone with a Gemlogis Ciel tester registering 4 high red marks confirming a precious stone. We measured the band with a professional ring mandrel at a US Size 10.75 or 10-3/4 and measured the stone with a gemstone gauge tool at 1.0 carat. It is important to note that rings by this maker do surface in the collecting marketplace, but the hallmark is mistakenly described as reading KK or KHK.
