A chunky yet impressive vintage synthetic ruby ring from the mid-late 20th century! This 9ct gold ring features decorative gold carving surrounding a ravishing ruby. The gold colour is a subtle rose hue with a yellow tinge and very complementary with the ruby. A good size ring worn traditionally as a gents ring, however could easily suit a lady’s finger for a bold look. The luscious buff top synthetic ruby features a faceted’chequer’ back, adding a further dimension when viewed face-up. A luscious pinkish red colour radiates across the surface of the ruby. Gemmological tests reveal a lab-grown flame fusion (aka verneuil) type ruby – a process first invented in 1902 and still readily available today! The ruby is resting in a crisp octagon shaped bezel setting and ever so slightly raised. The border, sides and shoulders display a wonderful carved and etched pattern, giving a very striking and unique design. Inside the shank bears stamps “9CT” denoting 9ct gold and letters “JMK” likely the makers initials. An eye-catching ring not for the faint-hearted!
