Well what an unusual and stunning piece which is handmade 1 of a kind and NOT small. A unisex design it has five approx 2.5 mm diamonds which are clean and bright these are claw set in white gold or platinum and flanking a large bezel set oval black opal triplet which exhibits stunning patterns and fire colour and is slightly convex , both the opal and the diamonds sit proud of the rectangular flat top which is textured. The mount is substantial thick heavy and is an impressive piece which has clean sharp lines. A triplet is a natural piece of opal that has a black backing and then a protective coating over the surface which makes it more durable the coating is normally glass or plastic. On the inside of the shank it is stamped 18 ct and has been tested. By the style of it I would say 1980, s. It is in very very good used condition ONLY under 30 x magnification jewellers loupe there are surface marks/pits to the protective coating. There is one light scratch on the side of the shank [image 9]. The ring is a size – UK – S 1/2 and USA – 9.5. The head of the ring measures 2.2 cm [0.87 inches] from East to West by 1.5 cm North to South – the opal measures 1.6 cm from East to West by 1.2 cm North to South and it has a heavy weight of 13.5 grams.
