Gorgeous men’s star sapphire ring, size 10, in a 14K gold setting (14K is as tested by local jewelry appraiser). This is a vintage item that is believed to date from approximately the 1950’s. The star sapphire appears to be natural and untreated. Approximate dimensions as indicated by caliper (see photos). Width of sapphire at the bottom of the visible part of the stone (just above the setting): 0.3725 inches. Height of sapphire from the bottom of the visible part of the stone to the top: 0.1875 inches. Maximum width of setting: 0.569 inches. Minimum width of setting: 0.158 inches. The shape of the star sapphire is a high-dome cabochon. The color is mainly blue with tints of violet and gray. Like most natural star sapphires, the 6-rayed star is visible when the stone is illuminated with direct light, but is not visible in diffuse light. The weight of the ring is approximately 13.2 grams.
